so here's the background history on lisa. Helen is her neighbor and graduated biola as a clinical psychologist and says that she is logging in hours to become a full time psychologist. whether or not that is really the truth, is a completely different story. Helen said that lisa has underwent psychiatric care for a year and a half, and it still has not helped. Helen made it clear that you can not "force someone into recovery". Which is extremely true! She said that she wishes to spend lots of time "thinking" about what to do, as opposed to hoping for the best. I took that as a warning.
I knew that eating with Asians, they would be watchful of my behaviors toward how i eat dinner. I tried to honor the mother of lisa, i'm not sure her name, by being respectful at dinner and whatnot. it was okay.
Lisa wants to have help she has said that publicly. Lisa also suffers from Paranoia, and she has mental issues and emotional issues that are side affects from the anti-depressants she is on. She isn't all there.
There is not much i can do for her, and i know that. I also have in the back of my mind, "the rescuer is always drowned with the victim."
Helen said that lisa has a bad case of paranoia, and i responded, "as long as she seeks help, we can support her. We need to make sure that we are engaging in converstation, and discussion with her. She may not want to do psychiatric care, because it has not helped her in the past. but we can only present and recommend different options for her.
we recommended C.R., the dream Center, and also attending a korean based church.
She asked me if i was willing to take her to her appointments after July 1st.
I know that i'm stepping into a black hole. There is so much more that they aren't telling me, and her condition is a lot worse that i could even imagine.
but i believe that every one deserves a chance at life.
My greatest fear is becoming emotionally attached to this woman...what if by helping her i develop the "nurse's love syndrome" where the nurse falls in love with the person she cares for.. I'm afraid of that because it would hinder her recovery.
More to come on lisa choi.
