The Chinese have a strict filial code in which the daughters should never question the father, or the rightful person to whom the respect is owed. Yet there are many factors to why a Chinese immigrant had negative experiences, many of them are functions unto each other. Laws, such as the Chinese exclusion act of 1882 limited the immigrants from china significantly and caused prostitution to become the rampant means of immigration due to child slavery. There are also economic means to where a middle class family consisting of a married woman and man both of which work and are educated enough to provide a dynamic set of means for the child both monetary and psychological. The second generation experience for the Chinese-american child would differ significantly in opportunity compared to a Chinese American growing up in a labor class family. The major difference would be education, and the age at which they start. A person who starts college later would become more independent and would have to provide for their own means, their own funds, and their own psychological health. This is a set back that is significant and impending however, not to be thought of as impossible. Jade Snow declared her independence from her Chinese cultural traditions in order to declare her needs to become more of a priority than the group’s needs. In the eyes of a Confucian scholar, this is absolutely against the hierarchy of Filal Piety. Yet, what makes Jade Snow’s position a representation of a persistent spirit blaring past the hurdles of society, was that she overcame. She worked as a house maid, and completed college.
I am absolutely inspired by this because as egotistical as this appears, I have been thinking of my own cultural heritage being that I am a third generation Italian American. I am 24 years old, a Junior in College and will probably graduate when I’m 27 years old. This is a much older age than most of my peers, but I keep my faith on the teachings of the Holy Bible. Why the Holy Bible? My great-great grandfather was a preacher on the side and would drive around to other counties and teach as a preacher. The messages of the bible constantly teach that from the humble, shattered beginnings come the fruit of the Lord. The main message of the bible is that blessings are a function of those who have faith in the provisions of God. Esther, Job, Jesus, Jonah, Saul of Tarsus, Peter, Moses, are all historic figures who have done a change in their lives to help serve the people. Esther was an orphaned child adopted by Mordecai who was lead to become a princess advocating rights for the oppressed jews. Job was a billionaire who was tested in the eyes of god, yet had his things restored. Jesus was the son of god, higher than a prophet, who worked as a carpenter until he was 23 years old and was lead to walk on water, speak to the people, and sacrifice himself. Jonah was a merchant called to become a messenger of God to the town of ninevah, and he was unconfident, fearful, doubtful, and so he ran away. He spent seven days in the belly of a whale and returned to complete God’s wish. Saul, a prosecutor of Christians, actually worked to kill Christians. He saw the blinding light of Christ and changed not only his name, but also his vocation to become a voice of Christ. He also worked as a tent maker, a laborer, as he continued working as a messenger. Peter was a longshoremen and labored his net to generate a “living”, until he met, randomly, a man on the beach who asked him to simply “quit and follow me.´ IDid not Peter change his profession much later in life to not only become a major influence in the community but also to become a successful writer? Moses was a slave from Egypt who killed a man, and became a righteous murderer. Moses did not know his father, or mother, and was raised as an elite bastard orphan. He had no true culture identity, had a limited amount of “self-knowledge”. Yet Moses was accepted into the Elite class, but didn’t stay there. Moses changed too. He ended up advocating the total release of the Jews from enslavement, in one of the most epic social movements history has ever had the courage to recognize.
What is the message?
The message is clear that every person has a different calling in life, and not everyone heeds the call. Society helps shape lives, parents help dictate limits within the personality of a person, God has the highest influence, and the individual’s will contributes toward the events of history.

MEETING HANK WILSON PART 2
I went to the old folk's home again in Fullerton, and looked up Hank wilson. he moved from the regular housing to "assisted living".
this time he couldn't even get up from a sleeping position. He looked really bad.
He said, "well i hope i could help you son..."
but then disconnected from any conversation. I could tell he didn't even want me there.
I looked around the room and found some old golf scores.
"so you like to golf huh?" I asked
"yes i did, it has been many years..." he paused, "well it was nice talking to you."
i was there in the room, for barely five minutes, and already he wished me out.
"i know what you mean." i said
I paused, because i wasn't ready to leave yet, "you know, i'm not one to tell another person what to believe, but i'm here becaues i sort of rediscovered God, and the meaning of it...."
"yes, it was nice talking to you." he repeated.
I know that when people are ready to die, they disconnect from others.
I wished him well and left.
I will try to visit Wayne wilson again, his name isn't actually Hank, but Waynee.
This time i think i'll just drop him some flowers to cheer him up. i'll go to ralphs or something and see if I could get him to talk.
I will go maybe Friday after work. hopefully that old man will still be alive.

White Banadana
So I submitted my post for the fullerton paper about homelessness, it is posted below on my blog page. I decided to edit the negative aspects of my paper. The main thesis of my paper was first a summary of the events that occurred during my terms of volunteering, an interview with a homeless person, themes of the causes behind homelessness, and an anaylsis of the American Character.
I had another dream that i was walking and i was watching myself walk. I saw myself in my dream. My other self was walking and wearing a white bandana. According to dream dictionary it states:
"White represents purity, perfection, peace, innocence, dignity, cleanliness, awareness, and new beginnings. You may be experiencing a reawakening or have a fresh outlook on life. However, in Eastern cultures, white is associated with death and mourning. "
"To dream that all your clothes in the closet are white, suggests that you need to lighten up. You may have recently been feeling a little on the depressed side. Perhaps you were going through some crisis. It is time to move on. You need to change your attitude and get a grip of your inner emotions."
"To see or wear a bandana in your dream, suggests that you need to look at issue or problem more objectively. You need to think through your options more carefully. "
